Sassafrass Cafe

My husband and I chose Sassafrass to host our small 11-person wedding reception and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision!! From the start, Kira was an absolute pleasure to work with. She really listened to what we wanted and created a beautiful and unforgettable night for us! The food and desserts were absolutely delicious— our guests are still raving about them! The space itself was adorable and perfectly decorated, making for such a charming atmosphere! Since we're from out of state, we had to make a lot of decisions without seeing the venue or tasting the food in person, but I fully trusted Kira and the Sassafrass team and they exceeded all of our expectations. We will most definitely be back!!

Dining at Sassafrass Café in Bar Harbor was an absolute delight from start to finish. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a cozy, homey atmosphere with just the right touch of whimsy—it immediately makes you feel welcome and relaxed. The staff are simply wonderful: warm, friendly, and genuinely invested in making sure every guest has the best possible experience. You can truly feel how much they care, not only about serving delicious food, but also about creating a dining experience that feels special and personal. The food itself was outstanding— we had the Kimchi Congee (wow!!), Latke Benedict, Magician Latte (omggg), Hibiscus Lemonade - made with love, attention to detail, and a clear passion for quality. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, both comforting and flavorful, and it was clear that the team takes great pride in what they put on the table. From the service to the atmosphere to the last bite, everything about Sassafrass Café radiates heart and hospitality. If you’re in Bar Harbor, this café is an absolute must-visit!

Incredible cafe with delicious local food and great toys, books, and dress up for kids! The local porridge was like Ramen. So unique and incredible! The waffles were rye/sourdough. Everything is from local farms. So good and a nice chance of pace to the daily lobster rolls!

Lovely place for an excellent espresso, bite to eat, or afternoon glass of wine and a small meal.

Beautiful cafe with delicious chow! The congee and salad were amazing- big portions and super fresh. Cute place to plop down for a bite with your buds or family. We took our baby and dog and everyone had a great time

Went to this for breakfast and their french toast was amazing! The staff were delightful (especially Dezzy) service was top-notch! We will definitely be coming back!

Fantastic Cafe! Really nice cosey vibe, and the staff is incredibly friendly. There is a nice space inside to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or to enjoy a pastry while reading a book or just to look out at the garden outside. The Shakerato is a must try, and I would highly recommend trying a few different flavors! Overall, the Sassafrass Cafe is the go too place in the area for a cup of coffee or tea, or just any drink in general. The Cafe also offers a variety of local foods and snacks and it is worth the stop!

Sassafrass Café is such a special spot! We’re elopement photographers and recently photographed a reception here, and it completely blew us away. From the cozy atmosphere to the intentional details, everything about the evening felt personal and beautifully done. The food was amazing, the service was flawless, and our couple had nothing but glowing things to say about working with Kira! If you're looking for a meaningful place to celebrate in Bar Harbor, Sassafrass is a wonderful choice.
